The Scope of Co-curricular Activities

The scope of co-curricular activities:
Co-curricular activities (CCAs) play a key role in students' mental, physical and moral growth. CCAs shape and make students familiar with the environment outside of the books, classroom and school. These activities help students understand how to deal and cooperate with people fairly in different situations. CCAs nourish students' overall personality and sharpen their hidden talents and skills. A regular curriculum is usually consists of academic theories and is taught within the boundaries of a classroom with no idea of the real world, so students do not know exactly how to apply their knowledge practically. Participation in these activities boosts students’ abilities of understanding and grasping things as a whole and putting knowledge in the context of daily lives. These activities support students (individually or as a team) to analyze, criticize the situation and how to solve the issues/ problems practically with confidence and respect out of the school environment.  In this way CCAs facilitate and assist in accomplishing the aim of the curriculum in the real world. These activities build students’ self-esteem, self-confidence, sportsmanship, leadership skills and promote the culture of teamwork and sharing in students. These activities prepare them for the future challenges. CCAs are a great source of developing students' interest in studies, classroom and school routine. Students can choose these activities according to their interest and understanding in a less-disciplined and comfortable environment. As a result, they learn very quickly. Students find out opportunities and multiple ways of showing their learning, performances, talents and abilities to their classmates and teachers. These kinds of activities provide multiple and flexible ways of learning, teaching and presenting. CCAs enrich information, knowledge and broaden students' canvas of imagination.
